Petzl RIG Descender

The Petzl RIG is a compact, self-braking descender for experienced rope access and rescue professionals, enabling safe descents and precise positioning. Thanks to the AUTO-LOCK system, the device locks automatically as soon as the ergonomic handle is released, eliminating the need to tie off the rope. For short ascents, the rope can be easily taken up even while the device is locked. In its latest generation, the RIG features optimized wear resistance due to a reinforced stainless steel zone on the side plate, as well as a more rope-friendly cam geometry for even more precise braking behavior. The key innovation is the innovative "Repairable" version: with this model, the cam can be easily replaced using a separately available repair kit if worn, which massively extends the device's lifespan and reduces follow-up costs in harsh daily operations. Since the RIG deliberately dispenses with an anti-panic function for maximum compactness, it is significantly lighter than the Petzl I’D and is aimed exclusively at trained professionals. Weighing just 406 grams, the device is designed for rope diameters from 9.5 to 11.5 mm, rated for loads up to 150 kg (up to 200 kg in rescue situations), and certified according to all current industry standards, such as EN 12841 Type C and EN 341.
