Petzl RIG Descender

The Petzl RIG is a compact, self-braking descender designed specifically for experienced users in rope access work. Thanks to its thoughtful engineering, it enables safe, controlled descents and precise work positioning — even under challenging conditions. The ergonomic handle allows for smooth control of rope feed, while the Auto-Lock system automatically locks the rope as soon as the handle is released, letting you secure yourself quickly without needing to tie off the device.

After locking, the rope can be taken in without using the handle — especially practical for short ascents. The RIG is highly versatile: it can be used for rope access, controlled descent, or lowering loads of up to 200 kg in rescue situations. Its durable construction features reinforced stainless steel wear zones that protect the device from rope abrasion and extend its lifespan. By omitting an anti-panic function, the RIG is significantly more compact than the Petzl I’D — but it is intended strictly for trained and experienced users.
