The treeAustria Tree Climbing Harness – Its Evolution from 1998 to Today
treeAustria1
The idea for the treeAustria tree climbing harness was born in Austria in 1998, at a time when specialized equipment for arboriculture was still rare. The harness – the crucial interface between climber and tree – became the focus of attention. The first treeAustria harness replaced traditional, heavy leather components with modern, lightweight textile materials – a true milestone. Developed in collaboration with the company Haberkorn, the harness quickly became a bestseller. Friedrich Drayer, a pioneer of the tree care industry, played a key role in its marketing and further development.
treeAustria 2
With the treeAustria 2, the series saw its first major update. New attachment points for lanyards and an infinitely adjustable connection between waist and leg loops improved fit and adaptability. In addition, the large sliding D-ring on the central webbing was replaced with a lighter aluminum ring – making the harness more flexible and comfortable in practical use.
treeAustria 3
The treeAustria 3 focused on optimizing the connection between the waist belt, leg loops, and central bridge. A movable D-ring replaced the previously fixed stitch point, allowing for better adjustment to different climbing positions and significantly increasing freedom of movement.
treeAustria 3.1
Two years later, the treeAustria 3.1 was released with targeted improvements to key details such as material quality and positioning of attachment points. The goal was to make the harness even more user-friendly and durable.
treeAustria 3.2
The treeAustria 3.2, developed with strong involvement from Drayer, marked another major milestone. It introduced new leg loops, additional attachment points, and a fully adjustable connection between waist and legs – making it one of the best-selling tree climbing harnesses of its time.
treeAustria Pro
In 2021, the treeAustria Pro was launched – the result of 22 years of development experience. It impressed with outstanding comfort, optimized harness geometry, and refined details. A unique feature: its sustainable “packaging” in the form of a practical gear carabiner, which can be reused during work in the field.
treeSave Crown Bracing System by DRAYER
The Importance of Urban Green Spaces
Urban greenery plays a vital role in improving air quality by absorbing CO₂ and producing oxygen. Beyond their ecological function, trees enhance the aesthetic value of cities, support biodiversity, and provide numerous environmental benefits.
Why Tree Bracing Is Essential
Urban trees face harsh conditions that can lead to both biological and structural weaknesses. Crown bracing systems are a critical complement to arboricultural care – reducing the risk of limb failure and increasing public safety in areas with pedestrian or vehicle traffic.
The treeSave Crown Bracing System by DRAYER
Designed to improve tree preservation and structural support, the treeSave system features a load-bearing tree sling equipped with an overload indicator. When the system reaches more than 75% of its maximum load, a red marker becomes visible – signaling the need for immediate action. This feature allows for quick and easy visual inspection from the ground, significantly simplifying monitoring and maintenance.
Benefits of treeSave
This multi-component system is available with or without the integrated overload indicator and is optimized for both static and dynamic bracing configurations. It offers fast, tool-free installation and is suitable for a wide range of applications including crown bracing, tree anchoring, and structural support systems. treeSave complies with the technical standards of the ZTV Tree Care Guidelines (ZTV Baumpflege) and provides a minimum functional lifespan of 8 years.
